Juliana does both... usually with a cocktail shaker in one hand and a camera nearby. 🍸📷✨ Born in Darwin, Juliana’s story began in hospitality before she could even properly walk. Her parents owned the Blood Shot Eye Café, where barefoot hippies, colourful characters, travellers and storytellers came and went... and somewhere amongst the coffee cups and café chatter, a little girl learnt that people, laughter, food and good conversation were the heartbeat of life. Hospitality isn’t something Juliana studied. It’s something she’s lived. With a lifetime spent behind bars, in restaurants, cafés, pubs, race tracks, retail stores and now her iconic vintage van, she has worn more hats than most... publican, licensee, restaurant owner, café operator, retailer, artist, teacher, photographer, storyteller, and of course... cocktail queen. Over the years she has managed and owned some legendary Queensland venues, including the famous Outback Jack’s Steakhouse, The Courtyard Café in Mudgeeraba, and the iconic Qld Hotel in Coolangatta, better known by many as The Patch Hotel. She also managed the buzzing Rusty Pelican in Surfers Paradise during the golden days when Surfers truly danced until sunrise. But Juliana was never built for standing still. In 2012 she created Canterbury Blue, her own furniture paint brand, and spent the next 12 years teaching thousands of Australians how to create beautiful shabby chic and rustic furniture, helping many turn creativity into income. Her shopfront became a treasure cave of eclectic finds, painted pieces, and stories waiting for their next chapter. Creativity didn’t stop there. Today, Juliana also runs Storyteller Photography, capturing candid moments, quiet smiles, belly laughs and the beautiful in-between moments that often say the most. And then there’s the horses… 🐎 As the daughter of a father who lived and breathed the racing industry, Juliana spent countless dawns at the track beside her dad Paul, stopwatch in hand, ears tuned for the whispers, the tips, the hope, the heartbeat of racing. Those mornings taught her that the best stories often begin before sunrise. Her mother Kay? Well… Kay could strip back an old piece of furniture and breathe life into it… which seems fitting, because before that she’d worked as a trapeze artist, magician’s assistant, and contortionist with the circus. Yes... the circus. 🎪 In fact, Juliana’s very first job was with Sole Brothers Circus. So perhaps it makes perfect sense that 40 years later, she’s still travelling, still entertaining, still collecting stories... only now she does it from behind her beloved vintage bar hire, Hello Mr Jenkins, offering a unique mobile cocktail experience. A proud mum of three incredible kids, a lover of people, old things, good horses, strong coffee, cold champagne, and a proper yarn... Juliana believes the best events aren’t about what’s in the glass. They’re about who’s standing around it. And life? Life, according to Juliana... is grand. ✨🍸🚐
